A glass rod when rubbed with a piece of cloth develops a positive charge, whereas a plastic rod tends to develop a negative charge. On bringing these charged rods closer to a freely hanging pom-pom ball, a force of attraction or repulsion is observed. The dust particles floating freely in the air get polarized by the television screen. Due to this, the charged dust particles stick to the television screen.
